These projects showcase my knowledge in UV unwrapping and editing. I create textures Photoshop (and sometimes Krita), to create unique custom textures for assets. Check out Jo's Nightmare for some more examples.
I have also learned and increased my skills in patching, and masking techniques to make assets taken from different royalty free sources converge into one.
For more details, I lowered my opacity and added some dirt marks using texture brushes, then repeated the steps I used for the text to add a flammable warning sign.
Once I was finished, I saved the texture as a .TAG and moved it to my images folder. I then applied my changes to the crate and set up a quick scene. I lowered the specular weight while upping the roughness of the crates. Lastly, I added an arnold skydome and plane for the final render of the crates.
I started by taking a UV snapshot of the crate and exporting it as a .TIFF file, sizing it as a 1K Texture. From there, I added the UV Snap into Krita, where I was able to place the wood texture that I flipped around to be more unique. I then saved the file as a .PSD and imported it into Maya to ensure the texture was properly set up to continue.
I then began to patch any dark spots and repeated wood textures, and cloned areas to make the wood look more unique. I was then able to rasterize my text asset, in which I used a mask to fade the text and a brush to dodge and burn the text color to blend in with the wooden crate better.
Overview of the basic scene for the dramatic lighting rendering: This project was to familiarize ourselves with lighting in Maya and practice rendering images with interesting compositions. I used spot lights for the lanterns and area lights above the shop sign so you can view a slightly illuminated inside of the store.
