Katie Waddle

Mathematician, Teacher

I am currently at the University of Michigan in the fifth year of a Ph.D. in mathematics.  I work in algebraic combinatorics with Dr. Sergey Fomin and co-organize our chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics.  I am planning to graduate in the spring of 2026.

I am a founding (and current!) moderator of a world-wide Discord server for graduate students in all flavors of combinatorics. My co-organizers are Ashleigh Adams and Jodi McWhirter. Send any of us an email if you'd like to join!

I am a co-organizer of SUBgroups, which are online peer groups that support first-year math graduate students.  You can read a recent article about our work here.

I completed a masters' degree at San Francisco State University where I led the Mathematistas club.

I taught algebra and geometry for 7 years at San Francisco International High School (go huskies!).

I hold a masters' degree in education from the STEP program at Stanford University.
