Degree show project 2025-26
Open wide says the dentist.
My teeth don’t shut.
Aren’t I always opening wide?
Mind the gap.
I wonder when was the last time they touched? Do they miss each other?
Maybe that’s why my jaw hurts.
I am a human yet also postbox.
I bite through a sandwich.
The ham slips away, flopping limply between my teeth, taunting my tongue with a taste, as the bread is scraped away.
Post a letter through my teeth.
(Or perhaps a slice of ham)
What does the tooth fairy do with all the teeth?
Does she live in a house made of teeth?
I do think so.
Everything is made of teeth, and that’s why she needs so many.
I have a box full of strangers’ teeth. Casts of unwilling smiles, frozen in time, used to make my abode.
That is quite sinister really.
Abject I’m told.
A whole house made of teeth.
My bed is an open mouth,
ready to swallow dreams and nightmares whole.
