About me

Kathryn Lunt is a multimedia artist based in Newcastle. She has a special interest in soft sculpture, installation and world building. Her work is humorous, absurd and creates a playful subversion of the ordinary. Pulling from narratives in her own life, she creates fantastical sculptures and installations that encompass the viewer, bringing them into the world of her imagination. A mixed media approach allows her to express multiple narratives and bring together ideas into one work. Textiles play a significant role in bridging the gap between artwork and viewer in Kathryn’s work. Their mundane familiarity and softness give an approachable, tactile quality, that often invites interaction into more bizarre elements of her work. Setting up the textiles forum during her degree in Fine Art from Newcastle University, she has taught sessions and cultivated an interest for textile arts and materiality in the department.
