My name is Katelyn Clark and I have completed the engineering pathway at Rome High School. During my three years in the program, I developed a love for engineering because it applies math and science principles and uses them to solve real-world problems. I plan to go to college for biosystems engineering after high school. I believe in always striving for the best in everything I do, whether it be school (first in my class), sports, or a job.
I am currently a senior in high school with a 4.3125 GPA. I am taking rigorous, advanced academic courses including AP classes as well as both the foreign language and engineering pathways. I am currently ranked first in my class. I have been named the top math student for the past three years. I was selected as the district nominee for the Governor's Honors Program in the area of mathematics. I am the secretary of the National Honors Society branch at my school.
I have played soccer my whole life and am currently on the Rome High School girls varsity soccer team. I run cross country as well. I am a member of First Baptist Church and participate in the youth group where we do a lot of service work and mission projects. I also am a Rome High School student ambassador, which is a selective group of students who serve as leaders for the school. I work as a lifeguard at the YMCA.
While in the engineering and technology pathway, I have learned how to operate different machinery and improved my hands-on building abilities. I have also developed many computer skills including CAD (computer-aided design) and became certified in Onshape. While working on my independent design project which won first place in the Rome City and Regional tech fairs in device modification, I learned how to code with an Arduino, design circuit boards, and develop apps. We won 2nd in the state tech fair with our project in 2021 for device modification.
