I designed a stool, since we needed more seats in class. The design is for other students to sit on. I worked well with my teammates. While working on my stool, I learned how to use an angle grinder and a saw and developed new skills in these areas. I practiced old skills by using an electric drill. We designed our stool by taking a long piece of wood with notches on both sides and cutting it into thirds. We placed 2 other pieces of wood into those notches for support. Our original design sketch was very different from finished product because we did not have the wood for it. I did not include the blue prints because they honestly look nothing alike. Due to the lack of wood, our design does not have a back rest and has two legs instead of four like we had planned. We had to adapt our design completely to make use of the one long piece of wood we had. Another challenge we faced was how to drill the top part onto the legs without splitting the wood. To solve this problem, we added a different type of wood to each side and drilled into that instead. I could improve the design by adding a back rest so it would be more comfortable.
