In Summer of 2023, I completed an internship with the Smithsonian Science Education Center. In this internship, I wrote science curriculum for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade using the Next Generation Science Standards.
In the Spring of 2021, I was the lead instructor for the Organismal Biology Lab at Utah State. This experience taught me so much about my teaching philosophy and the value of learning how to learn as a student. Above picture is from one of our labs where we used smartphones to track plant growth towards a light source (on left, plant in middle).
In 2017, 2018, and 2019 I used samples and videos of Megalopta genalis to create a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) for undergraduates in the introductory biology course at Utah State.
See our paper on how this lab experience (among others) influenced scientific understanding
I love using mentoring and research to help students get experience that can help them with their future goals-be it based in research or not. (Pictured-myself and undergraduate Tyler Dahl in front of his poster.)
