A professionally qualified passionate BACP accredited integrative relational counsellor. My training is Clarkson relational which covers different modalities meaning I have a great range of ways of working to suit your needs.
I have run a successful private practice since 2014. My work experience prior to that was in the corporate world as an individual, team member and a manager working in small companies and large corporations. I have a good understanding of the business world.
My original training was in general adult counselling. I additionally trained as a couples / two counsellor due to my view that so much of what we experience comes from being in relationship with ourselves, and others.
My re-training reasons were threefold: -
1. Awareness that we can all get stuck and wanting to implement change for others (my motto being Gandhis ‘be the change you wish to see in the world’).
2. Selfishly I no longer wanted to work for a company where individual contribution went unrecognised; I wanted to ‘be my own boss’ with full work satisfaction.
3. School reports spoke of me ‘being a chatterbox’ so it felt like I was coming home to my authentic Self.
Counselling Experience
I had the privilege of being a voluntary counsellor at Sam Beare Hospice (Weybridge) and working at Guildford Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC). Both contributed to my understanding of trauma, attachment and loss.
Personal Qualities
Blowing my own trumpet, my attributes are: - friendly, passionate, encouraging, calm, understanding, empathic, sincere, caring, interested, fair, compassionate, non-judgemental, unbiased, committed, interactive, honest, real, resilient, respectful and reflective. Feedback from client mirrors this with additional comments that I am quick to build working relationships and help clients feel at ease.
