The Kentucky Autism Training Center (KATC) is committed to improving the quality of life for autistics in the state of Kentucky - through all stages and settings of life.
As part of our ongoing commitment to clarity, connection, and community, KATC is revamping our official University of Louisville website (www.kyautism.org). The updated site will be easier to navigate and filled with up-to-date content that reflects our mission and values.
The site you’re currently using was originally created during the COVID-19 shutdown and has grown steadily ever since. Over the past year, we haven’t had access to update the UofL site—so this supplemental website has played a vital role in helping KATC stay agile and responsive, sharing timely, evidence-based resources with families and partners across Kentucky.
While kyautism.org is now live, we’re still in the process of migrating many of the trusted tools and materials you rely on. For now, this site remains the most comprehensive and current source for resources, trainings, and upcoming events.
We’ll notify our collaborators and friends once the new UofL site is fully updated and ready to explore. If you haven’t already, we invite you to join our mailing list to stay connected.
Thank you for your patience and partnership.
Stay curious. Stay connected. 💙

KATC offers a wide range of trainings, resources, and collaborative support—but there are a few services we don’t provide directly.
Learn more about what we offer, what we don’t, and how we can help connect you to the right supports.
The KATC Caregiver Resources webpage offers a comprehensive hub of support tools, guides, and training opportunities for caregivers of autistic individuals across Kentucky.
Safety starts with understanding. Whether you're a caregiver, educator, first responder, or community leader, our resources are designed to meet you where you are—with clarity, compassion, and practical tools.
The Yellow Dot Program helps first responders identify and support individuals during emergencies. By placing a yellow dot decal on a vehicle and storing key medical and personal information in the glove box, families can ensure faster, safer, and more informed responses—especially for autistic individuals and others with unique needs. It’s simple, FREE, and designed to save lives through clarity and compassion.
Kentucky Department of Education
This document is meant to help educators in Kentucky understand how to support students with autism, ages 3 to 21, in public schools. It explains how to identify students who may need help, what kinds of support and services are available, and how special education decisions are made. It also outlines Kentucky’s rules for determining autism eligibility, breaks down the evaluation process, and answers common questions from teachers and school staff.
