I researched the Utah Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (UTRID) using their website. On their “About” section of the website, UTRID defines the mission as supporting the members through providing the foundation needed to start and sustain an interpreting career while ensuring quality service to the Deaf community. UTRID provides resources for interpreters, interpreting students, and those looking to hire an interpreter in Utah. Providing informational resources to these groups supports the Deaf community and the societal issue of finding a qualified and certified interpreter. UTRID is a membership-based organization, and as such, have a list of policies and bylaws that members must pertain to in order to continue involvement. The bylaws are listed on their website. In the future, I believe I will absolutely be involved with this organization. Currently, I am a student member, but in the future will join as an interpreter. Hopefully I will be able to attend meetings and get to know the community and those involved with the decision making process for the UTRID.
