Plus the option to choose a local profile from your machine - this local profile should be opened first (see below) before selecting this Use Local Profile Option
This button allows you to select a profile design from your local hard drive.
See the video below for detailed information on profile format.
Allows adjustment of the diameter of the leading edge at the center profile. % is based on cord depth from center of leading edge circle to trailing edge tip of the canopy curve.
Allows adjustment of the center profile Canopy Curve Height separate to the LE Diameter.
NOTE: A value of 1 will have the canopy curve match the selected profile. Values smaller than 1 will be lower, values bigger than one will be higher.
TIP: Use SHOW PROFILE DEPTHS to see the effects of this control
Controls the taper of the leading edge tube from the center to the wing tip profile
If set to 1 the lead edge diameter at the final profile will be scaled based on the cord length of the final profile.
In some situations a scaling of 1 leads to the leading edge diameter at the final profile being smaller or bigger than what the designer requires
A value above one will increase the leading edge diameter of the final profile and wing tip. A value under 1 will reduce this diameter
TIP: Use WIRE FRAME view and SHOW TE/LE DIAMETERS to see the effects of this control
This controls how the LE diameters are blended/morphed from the center profile to the tip profile.
A value of 0 is linear morphing
A value of more than 0 is holds the center diameter for longer before rapidly dropping to the tip diameter
A value of less that 0 will drop rapidly towards the tip diameter first then hold this diameter for longer into the wing tip
TIP: Use WIRE FRAME view and SHOW TE/LE DIAMETERS to see the effects of this control
This controls how the complete LE and Canopy Profile are blended/morphed from the center profile to the tip profile.
The control advises how many seams are defined as the center profile only - not a morph between the center profile and tip profile. (The profiles are still scaled based on the cord length)
PLEASE NOTE: This control is similar to Non-Linear Profile Morphing Factor, but with less fine control over this morphing
TIP: Use WIRE FRAME view, along with SHOW PROFILE DEPTHS and SHOW TE/LE DIAMETERS to see the effects of this control
This controls how the complete LE and Canopy Profile are blended/morphed from the center profile to the tip profile.
A value of 0 is linear morphing
A value of more than 0 is holds the center profile for longer before rapidly dropping to the tip profile
A value of less that 0 will drop rapidly towards the tip profile first then hold tip profile for longer towards the wing tip
TIP: Use WIRE FRAME view, along with SHOW PROFILE DEPTHS and SHOW TE/LE DIAMETERS to see the effects of this control
By default all KaroroKITE designs have a center profile angle of attack set to 0.
The control allows you to set the wing tip profile angle of attack, figures show are degrees
More than zero is coning, less than zero is washout
TIP: Turn off AUTO ZOOM, set Rhino viewport to BACK VIEW and zoom into the wing tip area to see effect of this control
TIP: This only controls the canopy angle of, you will need to adjust the wing tip angle of attack to match your canopy
By default KaroroKITE builds a flat final canopy profile, tangent to the leading edge circle. The other canopy profiles are a morph between the center profile and this flat tip profile.
This control allows you to push some curve into this last profile by stopping the morphing before this flat profile.
A value of 0.5 selects the final profile as being 50% of the morph between the center profile and flat profile.
TIP: Use WIRE FRAME view and SHOW PROFILE DEPTHS to see the effects of this control
PLEASE NOTE: The newer Tip Profile Curve tools (see below) allow finer control over the profile than this tool, suggest you use one or the other, not both.
By default the flat tip profile is created tangent to the leading edge circle.
This control allows you to pull the point the flat profile is contacting the leading edge circle.
This can be a useful tool to adjust the fit of the wing tip panel to the leading edge.
This tool along with Tip Profile Curve High Point Position allow you to replace the default flat tip profile with an adjustable curve.
This controls the height of the curve
TIP: SHOW TIP PROFILE BUILD DETAILS to see the effects of this control, including a preview of the canopy high point position
PLEASE NOTE: These are newer tools than Final Profile Height tool (see above) and allows for finer control over the profile than Final Profile Height, suggest you use one or the other, not both.
This tool along with Tip Profile Curve Height allow you to replace the default flat tip profile with an adjustable curve.
This controls the position along the curve of the high point - low numbers towards the leading edge, higher numbers towards the trailing edge
Shows/hides the Tip Profile build curves along with a curve that shows the high point of the canopy over the whole kite.
Shows the canopy profile depths on the kite 3D model and a set of flat profiles on the 2D top view.
The numbers shown are - Leading edge diameter (171mm in top profile in picture below), Canopy high point position (18.5%), Profile thickness compared to center profile (100%)
PLEASE NOTE: The profile thickness numbers are normalized to a unit cord depth
TIP: Use WIRE FRAME view with SHOW PROFILE DEPTHS to be able to read the text dots on the kite 3D
Shows the diameter (in mm) of the leading edge at edge of the intersegment seams, along with the diameter of the struts at the trailing edge.
TIP: Use WIRE FRAME view with SHOW TE/LE DIAMETERS to be able to read the text dots on the kite 3D
Shows the length (in mm) along the canopy at the seams from leading edge to trailing edge.
TIP: Use WIRE FRAME view with SHOW CANOPY LENGTHS to be able to read the text dots on the kite 3D
