These are a couple of the posters groups made when we were learning about vignettes (see second lesson plan for more information).
Birthday Pancakes!
"When I wake up, I hear the sizzle of hot pans, the clanking of dishes, and the smell— the smell of warm, crispy, vanilla buttermilk pancakes. The scent of the pancakes, it just makes me want to melt like microwaving butter. It also touches me in ways, memories of my young childhood flicker through my mind. It is just that one particular scent of deliciousness. When I was younger, I remember, it was the perfect smell--the smell of fun times and love. Every year for my birthday, my mom makes pancakes. Whatever age we are turning, that is the shape of the pancakes."
A Small Village
"As I studied the tiny village that was bursting with Christmas themed colors and joy, I glanced at the people who were so small, they seemed like ants. This moment reminded me of comfort and happiness, like a sweet, gingerbread candle breezing through the hallway. It also reminded me of when it snowed, how you could hear the heavy, thick snowflakes dancing down onto the roof, piling up slowly like soft, fluffy clouds. The thought of being outside right now made me shiver and my teeth chatter. This whole moment filled me with warmth and pride as I stared at the people and buildings."
