My name is Samantha Karlosky, and I am thrilled to share my journey and passion for education with you.
I earned a Master of the Arts in Teaching Adolescent Education in English, along with my initial teaching certification, from SUNY New Paltz in January 2025. In 2023, I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from SUNY New Paltz.
From an early age, I’ve been passionate about education. As a high school senior, I had the invaluable opportunity to shadow a high school English teacher, which solidified my interest in teaching. During my undergraduate studies, I focused on building a strong foundation in English content while gaining hands-on experience with kids as a camp counselor and peer tutor. In graduate school, I deepened my understanding of pedagogy and collaborated with professional development organizations such as the Hudson Valley Writing Project (HVWP).
My student teaching experiences at Kingston High School and Saugerties Junior High School have further strengthened my commitment to fostering a love of learning in my students. These placements allowed me to apply my skills in real-world classrooms, develop engaging lessons, and connect with diverse groups of learners.
I am eager to embark on my teaching career and fulfill the goal I’ve been working toward for years—helping students grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
Thank you for visiting my digital portfolio. I hope it provides a comprehensive look at my experiences, philosophy, and vision for teaching!
