Co-authored a chapter to present lessons learned from the 2022–23 pilot of the Flying Colors program in Uganda. The program, designed to support out-of-school and vulnerable learners, brings together digital learning using Learning Equality’s offline-first Kolibri Learning Platform, project-based and playful learning approaches, and social-emotional learning materials from Amal Alliance’s Colors of Kindness program in a blended learning model. The newly designed curriculum was developed in alignment with the abridged Ugandan curriculum. The pilot aimed to understand the effectiveness of the curated content, educators’ ability to facilitate lessons, technology usability, and changes in learning outcomes. Considerations for sustainability and scalability are discussed, together with lessons applicable to similar tech-enabled programs with educators who are new to blended learning.
The world is advancing toward a new paradigm of education, one in which students are no longer required to excel only at standardized testing, but to foster competencies, such as empathy, citizenship, and creative thinking, which will equip them to solve the complex problems that lie ahead of humanity. In Massachusetts, a state in the United States which underwent a long-standing standard-based reform in 1993, the Burlington Public School district provides an example of an education system that can challenge the status quo. With a culture of distributed leadership, collaboration, and innovation, which greatly empowers teachers and principals, the district of Burlington Public Schools implements its policy “Planning for Success”, a three-year strategy with the explicit aim of helping students develop twenty-first century competencies. Based on a combination of observation and in-depth interviews at all levels, this study shows how this education system empowers teachers by focusing on strategic priorities and by achieving coherence, collaboration and trust among the many stakeholders involved in the school system.
As a first-gen student myself, I was elated when I got into Harvard University. However, I struggled a great deal with writing my Statement of Purpose (SoP). A statement of purpose or motivation letter is the single-most important document you will draft. This is because it guarantees you a chance to study at your favorite university, or land a job at a place you desire.
I got into all the universities I applied to. I was able to secure scholarships as well as raise ~22,000 USD to cover my expenses. Bottomline, WRITE A PERSUASIVE STATEMENT OF PURPOSE!
In this guide, you will find easy to fill templates, and guiding questions to write a persuasive essay. You will be able to:
Brainstorm ideas to showcase in the SoP
Define your goals
Map your ideas with your goals
