From my teachers...

I am writing in regards to Kara Lapierre's academic ability and achievement, will to succeed, and leadership abilities. I have had the great honor and pleasure of knowing and working with Kara for a year and half. She was an active participant in many classes that I have taught; Fundamental of Design, Graphic Design I, Graphic Design II, Digital Illustration and Portfolio. Kara has great insight and a very good sense of design. Academically Kara did very well in these courses and was always in the top of the class. I have hung several pieces of Kara's artwork in the Tech Center which is the ultimate achievement for a design student.

Kara is a very creative and intuitive Graphic Designer. Her critical-thinking ability is very strong. When a design problem has been presented to her she is able to process the given information with regards to specification of the client, design objective and the intended target audience. She proceeds by a thorough investigation of researching information pertaining to the designer's task, design brief. She assimilates all of this information to start the design process and is capable of solving the design problem with more than one very creative solution. Through each step of the process Kara demonstrates her natural ability at the will to succeed.

Kara was a dedicated student and has a great passion for art and graphic design. She is determined to do the best that she possible can. This has been demonstrated throughout her course work and the hours that she spent on campus working to produce the best quality comps. Kara went beyond the general requirements of a project as demonstrated in her package design by using a different type of packaging for a specialty spice. It is creative, innovative and functional and communicates this message to the consumer very well.

Kara has a wonderful personality, she is always positive, pleasant, and energetic. She is attentive, perceptive, and always participates during group presentation. She has great insight and works very well with others.

Again I am truly honored to have had Kara as a student. Her presence at the Academy of Design & Technology Center will always be remembered. I highly recommend Kara Lapierre for any graphic design job. She was the dedicated, hard working student that you really want to see succeed. Kara's strong points include an ability to take on multiple tasks simultaneously producing high quality results despite deadline pressure. She showed tremendous creative potential while in class and made great strides in becoming an accomplished designer.

Although I had Kara for several classes, Kara's talent shined brightest in her fourth semester class "Web Design". An intensive 11 week semester course utilizing the intermediate and advanced features of of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver, Web Design required students to produce a web portfolio of their work to date, which would demonstrate the student's technical and creative aptitude. Kara quickly rose to the top of the class.

More impressive was Kara's commitment to not only her classroom assignments, but also in working on her own. Not satisfied with learning just the standardized curriculum for web design, Kara met with me frequently outside of class on her own time to learn extra material not taught in class. She did this not for academic credit but only in the interest of making her web design skills more cutting edge. We utilized this additional tutoring learning more software such as Fireworks and Flash. This clearly showed a tremendous initiative on her part, proving that Kara was highly committed to becoming an accomplished designer.

If your organization seeks intelligent candidates with strong achievement orientation, technical ability, and creativity, Kara is a good choice. As a long time professional in the field of Visual Communications and an instructor at McIntosh College, it has been my pleasure to work with and mentor Kara Lapierre as part of her studies in the Graphic Design program.

The program at McIntosh is an intensive and rigorous one, revolving around design projects that reflect real-world application and involvement. I was Kara’s instructor for several classes and found her to be a competent and committed student. She showed both initiative and creativity in her work, striving to express her individuality as well as her understanding of larger principles of marketing communications.

Most recently, Kara was part of my Advertising Design class, a course that is the culmination of all that is taught in the Design program and one that stresses not just design, but critical examination of concept and objective. Her work was insightful and well targeted with a firm grasp of concept, audience and application.

Kara is mature and personable individual who approaches her work with confidence and enthusiasm. I feel very confident that she will be successful in all her future endeavors.
