Welcome our newest Teacher at ALB

My name is Chris Mailliard and I am excited to be the new Bible History teacher at A.L. Brown. I was raised in the Raleigh area before heading to Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC. Two pivotal moments occurred in my life while I was there. The first was God’s call for me to become a Bible Teacher. While a student there, I had the opportunity to teach the Bible once a week in a local Christian school as well as lead an after school Bible Club in the local community. These experiences gave me a burden to teach and explain the Bible in a clear, meaningful, and understandable way to children and youth. I went on to complete my student teaching with Dennis Cox at West Rowan Middle school before moving to Rockingham County, NC to teach Bible History at Rockingham County High school for 12 years.

The second pivotal moment while at CBC was meeting my wife, Emily, while on a month long mission trip to Spain. We have been married for 17 years and have three amazing children (daughters Charis and Chessa and a son, Callum) with a fourth child (another son) expected any day.

While pursuing my Bible Teaching degree, I spent a lot of time studying Paul’s writing in 1 Corinthians 3 as he explains his role as a teacher. 1 Corinthians 3:7 is the verse that best summarizes my purpose as a teacher and my understanding of how and why to teach the Bible. “So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.”
