It is a legally protected creation of nature, particularly valuable for scientific, historic, cultural or other reasons. Monuments of nature are individual formations of animate and inanimate nature or their clusters of special natural, scientific, cultural, historical or landscape value and characterized by individual features distinguishing them from other formations, large trees, shrubs of native or foreign species, springs, waterfalls, springs, rocks, ravines, erratic boulders and caves. There are more than 36 500 monuments of nature registered  in Poland.
