It is the phenomenon of the destructive effect of the swirling motion of water flowing to the bottom of the watercourse. Evorsion belongs to bottom erosion processes. 

The process of evolution consists in drilling natural depressions in the bottom of a watercourse (stream, river).

Evorsion occurs especially at the foot of waterfalls and in winding river where the water shifts from one bank to the other.
