Hi there! In this little corner of my Sewing Diaries, you will find the easiest part of sewing and the part that got me started with this journey in the first place! Altering clothes is the most efficent way to help reduce clothing waste. Oftentimes when something goes wrong with our clothes, for example, when you discover a hole or a broken strap in your clothing, we just think to throw it away or not use it again. It's an understandable mindset considering that many people don't have sewing machines, but we should try to fix this issue!

What happened to trying to mend what is broken? The mindset that we should all start to embody is that when things fall into our care, it is our responsibility to take care of those items. Hopefully these alterations will help show the importance of fixing things that are broken before throwing them out. Also, altering can help build the basic sewing skills needed to make more complex items. A lot of times, all you need to know for alterations is how to hem or fix a seam, which is really simple and easy to do!
