Kaitlyn Carpenter is in her 11th year in education. She began her career as an English Teacher for five years before transitioning to being a School Librarian. In 2024, Her current library's digital marketing campaign won her the TLA Texas Branding Iron Award for Digital Communications in schools. In 2023, she and her current library, Bellaire High School library, won HISD's Library Program of the Year. This was awarded during her first year at Bellaire High School, while she worked diligently to re-open the library after a large renovation. After working as a school librarian for six years, she is now looking to transition into academic libraries.
She is currently serving as 2025 NMRT Past Chair and loves making connections with other librarians of all disciplines. She has been invited to present on her work as a school librarian over 20 times in the past six years, and plans to continue and begin publishing in academic and trade journals.
