Make a short polished experience
add layers of polish to make the basic gameplay loop more interesting
for my second game feel project i remade breakout, for this project it was important to me that it was very well polished as its a simple game so i took care to make sure alot of the elements were fun and satsfying to play.
This project was made for a unit that had a focus on making a project that was polished and well made, during devlopment I kept elements of game design theory in mind to make the project the best it could be.
as the project is based on a simple game there was lots that i added to help amplify the experience, i added systems to make the ball and paddle feel more powerfull, I added VFX and sounds so that its clear when the ball has bounced off of something and when it has hit a brick and VFX helps make it all look a bit more impactful.
I also added some more features to the bricks like some camera shake happening when they get damaged and having them fall out of space when they are fully broken.
these and some small changes are come together to make the experience look better and feel better to play.
