This is one of the projects i made for a game feel unit on my masters course.
For this game I tried to make it all feel as smooth as possible when the player would pick up and throw an item and I wanted it to feel satsfying when the player would throw a item so I made sure it had a satsfying build up and a nice weight to acompany it.
This was a project that had a focus on game feel, for this project I tried to replicate the grab mechanic from portal as its quite smooth and it feels good when the player picks up a item and moves it around, I have also added some unique functionality to it so the player can charge up a throw to help get a item into a bin.
for the gameplay loop itself the player spawns into the warehouse and the pipes shoot out random items that need to be put into the right bin and its the players job to make sure that they get the items into the correct bin to gain score as if they misplace a item they will lose some score.
for some game feel elements I made sure that all the information presented to the player was clear by adding in world UI so players can keep track of time and progression, along with use of Visual effects and sound effects to give clear notifcations to the player so they know when they have gained some score and when they have misplaced a item. sounds effects were also usefull to make the grabbing of items feel more satsfying I also added some small ambiance to make the game feel like it actually takes place in a warehouse enviroment.
This is the project I showed off at gradex, here is a more up to date version of the game, it now has more levels, new gameplay features and controller support
