The focus of this design was to create a set for the game that shows how the new civilization has built itself into an old temple ruin carved from a mountain. The new society has built their hangar there for jet based travel
Iterations focused on the relationship between the existing structure and the mountain
Early Exploration focused Around laying out how the hangar fit in context to the floatin island it resides on.
The interior of the market was designed first so the focus was keeping all the elements consistent while bringing context to the design in where it lies in the environment
For the player market I was asked to design a circular market inspired by Platos Rendition of Atlantis. Taking that as inspiration I explored a market that centers around a spiral motif and mixes old ancient architecture with new scfi integration of the new society
The other iteration I explored, before the scale of the project had been confirmed, was a much larger mega-set that leaned further into the structural language of the new society. The design incorporated large-scale awnings, elevated walkways, and elevators built around a religious shrine inspired by Buddhist statues and temples in China. The intent was to explore how the society’s architecture could grow around and integrate with a place of spiritual significance.
In the earlies phases the concept team was tasked with piecing together the story based off the loose concept we were briefed with. My focus in this stage was throwing out story ideas for sacred areas and laying out in brief explorations of the overall island.
In the earliest stage a set style had not been confirmed but within the two day window I started with some rough vibe shots to begin the dialogue with the director
