Roadtripping North America đźš—
North America is massive and endlessly surprising — basically a playground for anyone who loves a bit of variety. I’ve fallen hard for Canada’s wilderness and Hawaii’s perfect beaches, and I can’t wait to go back to both. Next time, I’ll hopefully tick off a few more U.S. states too — the adventure never ends!
Whether it’s hiking the Rockies, chasing city skylines in New York, surfing California’s legendary breaks, or diving into the live music, BBQ, and big-sky vibes of Texas, there’s no shortage of stories to collect.Â
It’s one of my dad’s favourite continents to explore, and right now my cousin is one of the very few Kiwis at Harvard University, so clearly the North American dream runs in the family! Fun story: I did a European Contiki last year and ended up becoming best mates with two American girls — who would’ve thought?
Full disclosure: I’m not a fan of the Trump era, but I’m still hopeful that (depending on immigration laws) I’ll get to explore more of this wild, wonderful continent one day. North America just keeps pulling me back — and I can’t wait to hit the road again and see what’s out there.Â
Natural Wonders & Scenic Landscapes
North America is a playground for nature lovers, packed with landscapes that hit hard. Think lush rainforests, sweeping deserts, rugged coastlines, and snow-capped mountains that leave you speechless.
The U.S. serves up iconic spots like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and the Smoky Mountains — epic views, endless trails, and bucket-list adventures. Canada? Banff, Jasper, and the Rockies are straight out of a dream, with crystal-clear lakes, towering peaks, and wildlife galore. Chase the northern lights in Yukon or soak in British Columbia’s coastal beauty.
Mexico brings tropical vibes with jungles in the Yucatán, desert landscapes in Baja, and turquoise beaches in the Riviera Maya. Ancient ruins like Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza mix adventure with culture, proving North America is stacked with natural and historical gems.
Vibrant Cities & Culture
North America’s cities are as diverse as the continent itself, each with its own energy and vibe. The U.S. hits hard with New York’s iconic skyline, L.A.’s entertainment buzz, and Boston’s historic charm. Dive into D.C.’s world-class museums, catch live music in Nashville, or soak up San Francisco’s multicultural streets — urban adventure is everywhere.
Canada brings friendly, picturesque cities with a serious personality. Toronto dazzles with multicultural neighbourhoods and a killer food scene, Montreal oozes old-world European charm, and Vancouver balances cosmopolitan energy with epic outdoor adventures — ski slopes in winter, hiking trails in summer.
Mexico’s cities pack colour, culture, and history. Mexico City thrills with museums, historic sites like the Zócalo, and an unbeatable food scene. Oaxaca stuns with indigenous traditions and bustling markets, while Guadalajara blends art, music, and local vibes into one unforgettable experience.
Cuisine & Culinary Delights
North America is basically a food playground. The U.S. serves up everything from Southern barbecue and New England clam chowder to Cali sushi rolls and classic New York pizza. Cajun, Creole, and hearty Midwestern comfort food? Check, check, check.
Canada brings its own tasty twists with poutine, butter tarts, tourtière, and fresh Atlantic seafood. Montreal’s bagels and French pastries? Next-level.
Mexico is a flavour explosion. Street tacos, tamales, mole, tlayudas, mezcal — the list goes on. Whether you’re feasting on fresh seafood by the coast or digging into rich traditional dishes inland, Mexico turns every meal into an adventure.
Adventure Awaits
North America is basically one big adventure playground. The U.S. is stacked with thrill-seeker perks: world-class skiing in Aspen or Lake Tahoe, hiking Alaska’s wild backcountry, or rafting the Colorado River. Hit the Pacific Northwest for epic trails, or explore national parks like Yosemite, Zion, and Bryce Canyon — hiking, climbing, camping, all of it.
Canada’s outdoors are next-level. Road-trip the Cabot Trail, kayak Newfoundland’s fjords, or roam the tundra hunting wildlife in the Northwest Territories. Skiing, hiking, fishing, or just soaking in insane views — Canada delivers for every adventurer.
Mexico keeps the adrenaline flowing. Dive into cenotes, zip-line through jungles, hike volcanoes, or trek to ancient ruins like Teotihuacan and Palenque. Nature, culture, and adventure collide here, making every trip unforgettable.
A Continent of Wild Diversity
North America isn’t just big — it’s endlessly diverse. You can hop from New York’s buzzing city streets to the serene peaks of the Canadian Rockies in a single trip, or trade sandy beaches in Mexico for dense forests in the Pacific Northwest.
Every region has its own vibe, culture, and scenery. From the music and nightlife of U.S. cities to Canada’s chill outdoor adventures, and Mexico’s colourful traditions and landscapes, there’s something here for every type of traveller. Adventure, culture, and natural beauty collide at every turn — and that’s what makes North America impossible not to fall in love with.
Historical & Cultural Experiences
North America is stacked with history and culture that’ll leave you in awe. In the U.S., wander the Freedom Trail in Boston, snap pics at the Statue of Liberty, or explore Civil Rights landmarks in Alabama. From Philly’s Independence Hall to California’s Gold Rush towns, there’s no shortage of stories waiting to be discovered.
Canada’s rich indigenous heritage shines in places like Haida Gwaii and the Arctic Inuit territories, while Quebec serves up a slice of Europe with its cobbled streets, historic Old Quebec City, and vibrant French-speaking culture.Â
Mexico is a feast for history buffs too — stroll through colonial towns like San Miguel de Allende, explore colourful markets, and step back in time at Aztec and Mayan ruins. Every corner has a story, and every experience connects you to the continent’s past.
