Roadtripping North America 🚗

North America is massive and endlessly surprising — basically a playground for anyone who loves a bit of variety. I’ve fallen hard for Canada’s wilderness and Hawaii’s perfect beaches, and I can’t wait to go back to both. Next time, I’ll hopefully tick off a few more U.S. states too — the adventure never ends!

Whether it’s hiking the Rockies, chasing city skylines in New York, surfing California’s legendary breaks, or diving into the live music, BBQ, and big-sky vibes of Texas, there’s no shortage of stories to collect. 

It’s one of my dad’s favourite continents to explore, and right now my cousin is one of the very few Kiwis at Harvard University, so clearly the North American dream runs in the family! Fun story: I did a European Contiki last year and ended up becoming best mates with two American girls — who would’ve thought?

Full disclosure: I’m not a fan of the Trump era, but I’m still hopeful that (depending on immigration laws) I’ll get to explore more of this wild, wonderful continent one day. North America just keeps pulling me back — and I can’t wait to hit the road again and see what’s out there.

Mexico brings tropical vibes with jungles in the Yucatán, desert landscapes in Baja, and turquoise beaches in the Riviera Maya. Ancient ruins like Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza mix adventure with culture, proving North America is stacked with natural and historical gems.

North America’s cities are as diverse as the continent itself, each with its own energy and vibe. The U.S. hits hard with New York’s iconic skyline, L.A.’s entertainment buzz, and Boston’s historic charm. Dive into D.C.’s world-class museums, catch live music in Nashville, or soak up San Francisco’s multicultural streets — urban adventure is everywhere.

Canada brings friendly, picturesque cities with a serious personality. Toronto dazzles with multicultural neighbourhoods and a killer food scene, Montreal oozes old-world European charm, and Vancouver balances cosmopolitan energy with epic outdoor adventures — ski slopes in winter, hiking trails in summer.

North America is basically a food playground. The U.S. serves up everything from Southern barbecue and New England clam chowder to Cali sushi rolls and classic New York pizza. Cajun, Creole, and hearty Midwestern comfort food? Check, check, check.

Canada brings its own tasty twists with poutine, butter tarts, tourtière, and fresh Atlantic seafood. Montreal’s bagels and French pastries? Next-level.

Mexico is a flavour explosion. Street tacos, tamales, mole, tlayudas, mezcal — the list goes on. Whether you’re feasting on fresh seafood by the coast or digging into rich traditional dishes inland, Mexico turns every meal into an adventure.
