Room T Renovation

The requirment was to convert a traditional Japanese  style room with Tatami mat into a modern room with wooden floor. 

Stain-resistant and easy-to-clean floors were required for living with pets, but such building materials were expensive. Instead of using ready-made building materials, plywood was used to create geometric pattern flooring with glasscoating.

It looks like stone tiles and has the softness like wood. The existing internal sliding doors were also reconstructed with a geometric lattice pattern while utilising the original braid. The project attempted to create a space that had never existed before by making use of ordinary materials with a lot of effort and making the most of what was already there.
