Shelf of Transparency

Client saw the Facade design of second hand bookstore Brisées and ordered the smaller one as an carryable shelfs. She will use this shelf as an mobile bookstore carried by car and opens a second used bookstore irregulary at some market place, other days this shelf is put in side of her bed as a characterisitic interior.

There are two concepts of Design. Firstone is variety of transparency. There are areas where the contents can be seen from the backside, areas where they cannot be seen, areas where only a hint can be seen through a translucent membrane, and areas where only a part can be seen through the space of the lattice frame. These degrees of transparency and visual distance give some depth than actual and arouse interest. Actually, more persons stopped at front of her pop up and take a book in there hands than before.

Second concept is the overlap of geometry. This shelfs is composed by 4 cubes which overlaped each other. Most simple and primitive geometry like cube create diverse spaces and unexpected gap space by overlaped. It makes a step on which to lean a book and give appropriate height to several books.
