In 2013, the GALEX Space Telescope was decommissioned, and after 10 years of impressive science we lost our last dedicated ultraviolet observatory. New missions have included some UV wavelengths, however no comprehensive window into the UV has been built into new observatories. New missions, such as UVEX and HWO, plan to change this over the next couple of decades. To prepare our community a new era of ultraviolet astronomy, the 2025 KAAS Summer Seminar aims to review the history of the UV spectrum and astronomy, discuss the exciting and varied science that can be conducted in this regime, the current state of UV research, and discuss upcoming missions and how to become involved.
