These instructions should help users install a code plug on the CS800D mobile rig.
There is some duplication between these steps and the information on the main web page.
Required items to load a code plug:
** When you load the code plug you will need the 15 pin cable to the back of the rig and the usb port on your computer.
** Read over the instructions BEFORE you attempt to read your rig. Make sure your rig is in normal operating mode when you try to use the steps below.
1. Hook up the programming cable between the rig and the pc. (usb to 15 pin on rear of rig)
2. Power on the rig like normal with the power button.
3. Launch the Connect Systems provided CPS application on your computer. (Green C icon)
4. From CPS menu, select Program from main menu, then Read From Radio.
5. Review the code plug by clicking on Radio Information icon under the CS800D icon (located on left of CPS application). Confirm you have Firmware Version MS.20.60; Radio DataBase Version D4.3.0.1; Bootloader Version R2.05D.
Example Firmware Screen Shot:
6. Save this to a file on your computer as a backup. Select "File" from main menu, then "Save As..." (name the file something you will remember and maybe add the date, etc. Save to a location you can find later, if needed.)
7. From the CPS Application main menu, Select "File", then "Open..." and navigate to the file using the Windows file navigation window in the CPS Program.
8. Select the Code Plug file you want to load with a left mouse click. This will highlight the file name.
9. Select the Open button in the bottom right of the page. This will Open the Code Plug and close the Windows file navigation window.
10. Under the CS800D radio icon on the left, click to open the General Settings folder.
11. Double Click on "Setting" wrench icon under the General Settings folder icon.
12. Enter your Call Sign for the Radio alias in the box to the right.
13. Replace the 000000 in the "Power On Message" line 2 box with your DMR id.
14. Enter your DMR id in the Radio id box. **This entry is CRITICAL to operation on DMR.
15. Review the changes you just made in steps 12 - 14 above.
16. Save a copy of this code plug to a handy place. Suggest you keep the file name as is and add your call sign at the beginning.
17. From the CPS Application manu menu select, "Program", then "Write To Radio".
18. The CPS Application will transfer the Code Plug to the radio. This may take up to a minute. The radio front panel will show a message that indicates it is in the program mode. When the transfer is complete, the radio will restart in a normal operation mode. Do NOT do anything to the radio until this cylce is complete.
19. Test the rig on an Analog Frequency and a DMR Parrot or Echo channel. This will make sure the rig is operating as intended.
20. Get on the air! and talk, talk, talk. Then help another Ham load their Code Plug!
73, es enjoy DMR!
