Just as students have traditionally learned how to compose effective short written essays to explain and convince( the '5-paragraph essay'), so must students of the 21st century learn to plan, film, and edit effective short videos. Just as expertise in Rhetoric was essential for full participation in intellectual and political life in earlier times, so is video in the 21st century.

While there are many excellent video editing tools available, such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere, WeVideo is free(for the basic version) and is web-based, enabling students to edit and publish videos on a Chromebook. A school account is recommended, as it includes music content, sample clips, is watermark-free, and other features, but the free version is usable.

Create Lesson Plan #5 for your unit plan(see attached template), that guides your students through the creating of a digital media artifact( video, Adobe Spark, slideshow, or poster) that summarizes their project research or design journey. This artifact is how your students will share their work with the wider world
(1) Lesson Plan Part I: Technology Tutorials- Provide your students with self-directed learning materials( such as video tutorials) on the technology skills of using the media program, such as WeVideo, I-movie, or Google Slides.
(2) Lesson Plan Part II: Editorial Content: Make clear the expectations for the final media product, through a text description or storyboard.
