Translation of Johann Bach's "Weint Nicht Um Meinen Tod"
Winter 2022
After my grandfather had passed away in October 2022, I dedicated much of my personal time to translating "Weint Nicht Um Meinen Tod" ("Weep Not for My Death"), as I noticed that there had been no current English translation to be found online — and Google translate is still lacking in capturing the poetic nuances of language. I spent hours on end for several weeks pouring over German-English dictionaries, consulting German grammars, and thinking on how to craft the phraseology to produce a translation that is true to the original meaning without sacrificing its poetic value. I was fortunate to have the personal review and approval of Dr. Frederik Hartmann — specialized in German literature and linguistics — and German linguist Dr. Dorian Roehrs from UNT. I now have it posted publicly to Genius Lyrics under @JohannFaustus.
