Professional Experience
Canvasser March 2024 - June 2024
Camelback Strategy Group
For this role, I was assigned to represent and promote Jeff Bauknight for Texas State Representative, District 30, in a runoff election. Going door-to-door, I developed a friendly pitch and educated myself on his policies and talking points to answer questions and concerns. I would then compose bi-weekly reports where I would synthesize the trends and unique responses to contribute to optimizing campaign strategy. From the general election to the runoff results, we saw an increase in voter support by 5%.
Entrepreneur May 2021 - July 2023
Chronicle Stories
Chronicle Stories was a start-up online publishing company that I had contributed to growing under the role of Director of Artist Relations after initially being contracted as a freelance copy-editor in 2021. That vision was to foster a community of artists and writers who could collaborate to publish stories and bring exposure to one another online to avoid the often costly expenses of exposure. To this end, I began learning how to use search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing strategies to manage and coordinate with our team to strategically market their work. Under the name of Horizon at the time, we were able to soar to the top 5 most searched tags on Kindle Vella in July 2022. However, in early 2023, in an attempt to transition to an independent platform under an executive re-brand as Chronicle, the project suffered and ultimately was disbanded.
Writing Consultant Aug 2022 - Aug 2023
University of North Texas
As a writing consultant, I provided students with the help, advice, and guidance they needed on how to improve their writing in both organization and composition as well as held workshops for students. For this role, I was trained for a semester in a course on writing center philosophy.
English Tutor Feb 2017 - Dec 2021
Victoria College Tutoring Center
In my role as an English tutor, I upheld confidential records on each student regarding the type of assistance they needed and the areas they were working to strengthen. Here, I received my CRLA tutoring certification, developed several handouts, and held workshops for students. At the end of each academic year, we were trained a week-long seminar in educational psychology.
Learning Assistant Jan 2019 - Mar 2019
Victoria College Tutoring Center
For an 8-week course of Composition I, I was asked if I would work with a professor to help facilitate learning in an online environment. I held office hours in which I would arrange to meet with students in a variety of different formats to make assignment instructions more clear, offer advice, and coach them to have more confidence in the classroom.
