I. DNA extraction & Gel Electrophoresis
II. Home built microscope/Chromatography
III. Python and MatLab Coding for Particle Diffusion
IV. Data Analysis from on going research projects
◦Extract DNA successfully from fruit
◦be able to build a functioning gel electrophoresis unit
◦Collaborate on the project with members of the team such that a structured scientific experiments are performed by each member of the team
◦Each person on the team contributes by optimizing the experiments being performed
◦Build a system/device for basic microscopy use at home
◦Design experiments based on optimizing the system
◦Design experiments on visualizing specific components: plants or microbe studies
◦Work together as a team to improve on your projects
◦Attend weekly lectures on FCS, PCH, RICS, N&B and TZ
◦Use SIMFCS to simulate particle diffusion and detection with FCS, RICS as well as PCH and N&B
◦Design and code virtual particle diffusion using MATLAB or PYTHON
◦Work together as a team to improve on your projects
◦Work 1:1 with mentors (students or Postdocs) on data analysis
◦Attend relevant lectures given to Team IV
◦Conduct statistical analysis on data
◦Use Python to calculate errors and statistical information from data analysis
Student use SLACK to communicate questions
Virtual meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis
Students set up 1:1 meetings with their respective mentors
