Junghee Bae is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Welfare at Sungkyunkwan University and serves as the Principal Investigator of the Social Enterprise & Human Service Organizations Lab. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Welfare from Seoul National University and earned her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Georgia.

Her interest in mission-driven organizations began through internships and field experiences at organizations such as the Hope Institute, Beautiful Store, and the Siloam Center for the Blind. These experiences across NGOs, social welfare organizations, and social enterprises shaped her interest in how organizations and practitioners respond to social needs, develop innovative approaches, and create meaningful social change.

Before joining Sungkyunkwan University, she worked for two years as an Associate Research Fellow at the National Youth Policy Institute, where she conducted research on youth and young adult policy. This experience broadened her research interests to include the well-being, social inclusion, and policy needs of young adults.

Her research focuses on social enterprises, human service organizations, social entrepreneurship, and social impact. She is particularly interested in how organizations and practitioners identify emerging social needs and develop innovative services and organizational responses. Her recent work also examines how AI and digital technologies can support the well-being and social inclusion of young adults.
