Hello,
My name is Julian Lara I attended Trinity Christian College. I graduated from the university in 2023 with a bachelor’s in Secondary history education. In 2020 I graduated from Moraine Valley Community College with an Associate's degree in Liberal arts. I am looking to instruct middle school and high school students. The subject area I wish to cover is history, but I am open to any subject under the discipline of social studies. It is my belief that there is much to learn from history and with that knowledge, we can shape our future. As educators, we hold the keys to the future. It is our task to shape and mold the future generations that will lead us. We must hold ourselves to a high standard in order to better our future students.
I have spent time in both middle school and high school settings. For my student teaching, I had been at Palos South Middle School instructing eighth graders in United States history. For my second placement, I was at Reavis High School in Burbank. I had the privilege to teach Juniors and Seniors the subjects of United States history as well as sociology. I had the opportunity to take a leadership role in both of these schools. Where I fostered and encouraged student growth. In my short time there I had the opportunity to attend PLC meetings where I worked with other educators to plan out units and ensure our department had been meeting state standards. I was able to build connections with my cooperating teachers which allowed me to turn to them with any questions or concerns that could have arisen. I enjoyed my time at these placements and it only further solidified me in the field of education. This passion is something that I will carry into my future classroom with the hope that my impact as an instructor will be one that helps shape our future generations.
