Hi, my name is Juan Rafael Bolongaita, a first-generation Filipino-American with a deep-rooted commitment to service, inclusion, and innovation. My story is shaped by my family’s journey—from my grandfather’s path from a small village in the Philippines leading my family to life in America, to my own experiences growing up in a culturally rich but often underrepresented community.
As an International Baccalaureate Diploma student, I’ve developed a passion for exploring diverse perspectives across disciplines, especially in Chemistry, where I hope to make a difference either by developing life-saving, accessible medications or by pursuing another impactful role in healthcare. Whether I’m volunteering to support those facing housing insecurity, fundraising for meaningful causes, or collaborating in the lab, I’m driven by a belief that even small acts of kindness and curiosity can lead to big change.
Beyond academics, I express myself through music and sports. As a violinist in the Chamber Orchestra and a competitive golfer, I’ve learned that harmony—whether in a quartet or a team—is built through empathy and shared purpose.
At my core, I strive to build community and create impact. I carry the strength and humility of my family’s legacy with me, and I hope to pay it forward by contributing to a more inclusive, equitable future.
