Akshay is a budding social & cultural psychologist interested in the study of a range of topics including intergroup conflict, pro-social behaviour, social identity, empathy, and morality. He completed his B.A. in Liberal Arts & Humanities, with a major in Psychology, from JSLH and his M.Sc. in Social & Cultural Psychology from the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE). Akshay has worked on several research projects including “7-step Model of Developing Emotional Intelligence in Managers”, “Meaning of Life and Studies of Undergraduate Students”, and “Impact of Audio-Visual Stressors on Empathy Levels of Undergraduate Students”, under the guidance of Prof. Mariya Jilinskaya-Pandey. Additionally, his dissertation at the LSE was titled, “Political Diversity, Perspective-Taking & Assessment of Academic Writing,” for which he conducted experimental research under the aegis of Prof. Ilka Gleibs.
Since graduation, Akshay has worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Business Psychology (IIBP), a standard-setting organisation for psychological practices. For the past 4 months, he has been working with JSLH, as a Research Associate, assisting with the setting up of JSLH’s inaugural 1-year Jindal Fellowship Program (JFP). Akshay presently serves as the Vice-President of 'World Leaders for Mental Health,' an initiative aimed at influencing mental health policy change across various countries. He has presented at the National Academy of Psychology Annual Conference in 2016 & 2019 as well as at the Undergraduate Research Conference in 2017 & 2018. Akshay speaks basic Spanish and in his free time enjoys playing the Sitar and listening to Indian Classical Music.
