My body man agreed to take the car on as a side project for a flat rate of $3000 to paint the car inside and out. Even with all my prep work he had his work cut out for him. There were still dents and dings on almost every panel. Since it was a side project it was cheap, but progress was excruciatingly slow. He determined that the hood wasn't worth saving. He said it looked like a fat chick had posed on it for her senior pictures, so I ordered another hood from 2002AD.
The left rear splash guard was crumpled so I thought it would be a great opportunity to have euro sheet metal welded in. I bought the panels from Walloth N. Nesch and my body man agreed to weld it in for an extra $300.
Here are a few shots after all the body work and before blocking:
Finally, after a year I got to see some paint.
And after a year another 6 months the car was ready to come home in January.
The car finally back in the garage:
It wasn't until 4 months later that I got my hood and air dam back. I had the car road registered and was driving before I had a hood on it.
