So, at this point in time, my knowledge of the earth and it's processes are insanely limited. I know that we live on certain plates and that they are constantly moving around but that it close to the extent of my knowledge. I also know that California is known for having earthquakes and that is largely in part because of the San Andreas fault line and that is somehow connected to the plates. When it comes to the learning outcomes for this class, my knowledge is very limited in this aspect as well and I do not feel comfortable in the slightest in regards to all of the things here. I think the one thing I would most specifically like to focus on however is understanding map scale and location because that seems like it's more up my alley because I genuinely enjoy looking at maps and finding out where things are at and how far away they are.
My smart goals for the class, are to learn more about the geological maps, as well as try to find more time to focus on my school work outside of my personal life. As for what my expectation for this class is if it were graded, is to get an A. Obviously, I plan on busting my butt and doing as much as I can to get an A in the class, and learning the subject and getting that A is always going to be a goal of mine. However, I just need this class so I can get my transfer degree and get back down to Cal State San Bernardino, and if getting a C is all that I need to get me back down there, then so be it, I will take it.
When it comes to methods that I have to succeed in the class, I would say that the biggest thing I can do is just try and find time for everything. Studying is and always has been a key to my success in school as I am sure it is everyone elses, so, I need to make sure I am taking time outside of school to study and really start to understand the material. Another thing that I need to do, is to make sure that I stay on top of everything. Since I returned to college back in fall of 2021, I have noticed that staying on top of everything and getting it done as quickly as possible has been a major factor in my success, if I wait and take lots of breaks i'm going to fall behind, so it is imperative that I stay on top of my game. As for the SLO's, and assessing my growth in the class, I think the biggest thing is using this Eportfolio to my advantage, I feel like if I am staying on top of it and doing plenty of research I will be able to see how far I have come and how much I have learned. Going into this sememster, I am very nervous about this whole ungrading aspect, I feel like to succeed, in my own personal life, I need a lot of structure and I need a lot of deadlines that are set in stone to help me stay focused and determined, but this is something that I will have to work on.
