I felt like I met my goals this semester. I feel like the class went pretty well, I busted my butt all semester and I feel like that really showed. Based on my experience I would say that I have earned an A in the class, I know thats a bold claim to make, but I put in the effort and I feel like I have earned it. I don't know how everyone else did in the class, but if i had to take a guess I'd say I am near the top in effort put in.
So, I had a few major goals that I had planned out for myself. The first two goals were class related, the first such goal was that I wanted to better understand the geological maps. I feel like I was able to achieve this goal, my labs were lacking a bit in this category but I felt like I genuinely understood it except for a few small hiccups here and there, but overall I felt really confident in regards to this goal. The second goal I had was just to learn the rocks as best as I could so I could take the quiz and man, did I nail this one. I did lots of studying and was able to figure it out, in fact I did so well that I took the quiz and passed it almost a month before anyone else in the class even attempted it and I feel like that speaks volumes about where I am at in the class. As for my final goal it was more a personal one for me outside of the class. I put a ton of effort into this class outside of school and I feel like I reaped the benefits of that.
The methods that I used in this class were plenty. When it came to time in class I always tried to get extra help every chance that I got, and I also dumped countless hours into the class outside of school. I feel like between those two things they were instrumental in my success in this class. I would say I was spending multiple hours a week on this class both inside and out it would probably amount to around 10+ hours a week. I would say that I only really did one or two objectives in the last three weeks. I know some people tend to wait until the last minute and rush through everything but I avoided procrastinating as much as possible and I feel like I did not have much stress too worry about during the home stretch.
So, based off of the first question, I would say my engagement was next level, there were only a few times where I left class early, but I attended every single class and tried my best to be active in the class and tried to answer questions. I at the very least can say that I attempted every single assignment, there were only two labs all semester long that I did not get marked complete, but I was the first in both the rock lab and mineral lab to get it completed. I would say the most valuable skill that I learned in this class that I can apply to other classes and also daily life, is to not procrastinate. I feel like while other students around me fell behind on the SLO's I managed to stay ahead and keep on top of everything. I would say that I feel really comfortable about the topics that we learned in the class. I feel like my biggest weak point was trying to figure out the cross section on the geological map, but when it comes to basic concepts I feel relatively confident about all of them. I feel like the class made a difference in my life because it helped to show me that as long as i am putting in the effort, anything is able to be accomplished. I would say the thing that I am most proud of accomplishing is being able to knock the rock and mineral quizzes out so early because I was worried I was going to be way behind and not get it done. I would say that the grade I would give myself would be an A. I think that you would agree, I feel like I put in a lot of effort, I busted my butt and I know grades aren't just based on effort, but I feel like I have shown time and time again that I have a really solid understanding of what we have learned in the class throughout the year.
