Projects

Fisher House

The Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military and veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. We have supported the Fisher House by providing meals, and cleaning.

We provide supplies to the Community Resource and Referral center, whose mission is to support veterans who are experiencing homelessness, or who are at risk of homelessness, or serious mental illness by promoting physical and mental health, assisting in securing and maintaining housing, and by working with veterans to achieve increased community integration. We provide items such as oranges, gift cards, and clothes.

Adopt a Cemetery

This is our newest project as suggested by our State Regent. We will be adopting a cemetery. Cleaning gravestones, and any grounds upkeep that may be needed.

Fidget Blankets

Our chapter has been creating and collecting fidget blankets for use for those fighting dementia or Alzheimer's. Fidget blankets are lap-sized blankets providing different textures and simple touch-based activities such as zipping, tying, Velcro or pockets to help keep hands busy in safe, soothing ways. To date more than 100 blankets have been donated to both the Minneapolis Veterans Administration Medical Center and to local care facilities. The majority of these donations have been to the Minneapolis Veterans Administration Medical Center to be used by veterans suffering from these diseases.
