About DAR

NSDAR Mission

The DAR was founded in 1890, and is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The DAR is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.

DAR members volunteer in their local communities supporting active-duty military personnel and assisting veteran patients, awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships and financial aid each year to students, and supporting schools for under-served children.

Historic Preservation has always been one of the main focuses of the mission of the organization. Historic preservation projects are crucial to saving our history for future generations.

The DAR supports a variety of different programs, contests, and awards to help further the education of America's youth. Including many different resources that teachers may find useful when they are teaching subjects such as the Revolutionary War, family history/genealogy, the colonial period and early America.

Patriotism is the foundation of the many DAR activities that take place in local communities across the country.

Who are the members of Josiah Edson?

We all have one thing in common, we are descendants of a Patriot of the Revolutionary War and are interested in the mission of NSDAR.
