Teaching Philosophy
I took my first linguistics course the senior year of my undergraduate degree. Up until that point, I knew practically nothing about the field (outside of the name Noam Chomsky). This uncharted territory of language and science thrilled me, and it jump started my current journey as a PhD student of linguistics. As an instructor of languages and linguistics, it is my mission to bring that same excitement I felt in my very first linguistics class to the courses I teach today. In an effort to cultivate a classroom where students can find their own love of linguistics, I lean on three main pedagogical pillars: Building a rapport with my students, scaffolding my curriculum, and facilitating individualized growth.
