1. Hands-on adjustment over verbal explanation
A child cannot act on "relax more." Joshua teaches primarily through demonstration and physical adjustment — hand shape, bow angle, weight distribution — corrected in the moment, so the body remembers the sensation.
2. Clear the sticking point before pushing for progress
When a child says they want to quit, it is rarely because they dislike music. They are usually stuck on one specific thing and have begun avoiding it. Our first step is to find that point — not to add practice hours.
3. Parents are part of the lesson
For beginners aged roughly four to seven, a parent must attend the lesson, record it, and supervise practice at home. This is a condition of enrolment, not a suggestion. A young child cannot reconstruct a lesson from memory; without a parent, the six days between lessons are lost.
4. A trial lesson should sound different by the end
A trial lesson is not a meet-and-greet. We address one concrete technical issue during the lesson, so that both student and parent hear the change for themselves.
