Co-curriculars
Co-curriculars
I look forward to working with the students outside the classroom this year to extend their learning. Some of the co-curricular clubs I hope to offer are:
- Sinclair Science Investigators: With the help of the Student SpeakUp grant, we are on a mission to get Sinclair excited about STEM! Our student leaders are working hard to plan fantastic STEM events during second semester. In April, we are planning STEMtalk, an opportunity for students to meet STEM professionals, ask questions, and learn more about STEM-related careers.
- Equity Student Voice Team: Our goal for this year is to create a school environment in which each child knows and feels like they matter. Our first initiative is to create a video to raise student awareness about issues around individuality and the student experience at Rosebank. Meeting day/time: Wednesday at lunch
- Robotics Club: A hands-on experience of learning to design, build and program robots of increasing complexity can greatly boost students' teamwork and problem-solving abilities while helping them to learn how abstract concepts of mathematics, engineering and computing actually work in practice. Depending on student interest, we may even participate in one of the many robotics competitions in the Durham region! Meeting day/time Thursday at lunch.
- Makerspace: Makerspaces are creative, DIY spaces where students can gather to create, invent, and learn. This approach integrates the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields and emphasizes student learning through exploration, collaboration, research, design, modeling, tinkering, and prototyping. Meeting day/time: TBD
