About Me
My journey in education began during my undergrad years as I became fascinated with the neuroscience of learning. I pursued a degree in Education specializing in grades 7-12 Science and Technology. After five years in the classroom, my family moved to California where I had the opportunity to pursue passion projects in children's literature and work in Education Management in the private school sector. Last summer, we moved back to Canada. I am returning to the classroom with a more comprehensive perspective on education and teaching.
My Teaching Philosophy
Explore | Question | Experiment | Repeat
As an educator, I strive to spark curiosity in young minds, give children the opportunity to experience the intrinsic rewards of learning, and foster an inclusive environment that is conducive to student success.
Building a community that is free of judgment, where students feel safe, respected, and at ease to explore and discover is critical to student achievement. The core of inquiry-based learning is an understanding that failure is a natural step to success. When we encourage our youngest explorers to make mistakes and discover through trial and error, we are fostering a mindset that does not fear failure; rather, we are encouraging a mindset that views failure as one step closer to discovery and learning. I strive to build this innovative learning community in my classroom.
