Overview
Canister Catastrophe is a twin-stick space shooter where you try to accumulate as many points as possible while maintaining your ever-depleting fuel supply. When starting, you gain control of a small spaceship that is slowly losing fuel by the second, so you need to keep an eye on your Fuel Gauge while flying around. During your flight, obstacles such as Asteroids and Enemy Spaceships may hurdle towards you, the latter of which needs to be shot in order to be destroyed. You need to keep your eyes peeled while flying around; you may run into a loose Fuel Canister barreling around, which will restore a portion of your fuel when collected. Be careful though, it, too, can be shot and destroyed! How many points can you wrack up before running out of fuel?

Audio Design
Being the sole developer, I was in charge of sourcing, creating, and setting up all of the Audio Assets. The audible theming I was aiming for was "goofy, fun, and futuristic," which I was able to capture in the end result. I also went out of my way to composed Original Music for the game.
Title Screen, Gameplay, & Game Over Music
The three renditions of music that I made for Canister Catastrophe.
All of my music is created in LMMS, an open source digital audio workstation that allows music production by arranging samples, applying effects, and many more features. I wrote the full theme in one afternoon using sampled instruments from SGM v2.01, a royalty-free soundfont that I regularly use.
I have included timestamps in the video which indicate what theme begins playing at which time.
Plans for the Future & Gameplay Demo
As it stands, the game is still in development. I am currently working on many new additions and features, such as an overhaul in presentation and visuals, balancing and fixes for bugs and exploits, and new gamemodes.
A casual playthrough of a 2023 build of Canister Catastrophe.
