Description
For this assignment, I developed a grant proposal for the McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation Teacher Development Grant to support the Digital Inquiry and Equitable Technology Integration Initiative at Osborne Middle School. I was tasked with identifying an instructional technology need, proposing a practical solution, and designing a one-year implementation plan that supports both teacher development and student learning. The proposal focused on strengthening inquiry-based social studies instruction through interactive digital tools, digital primary sources, accessibility supports, and job-embedded professional learning.
To complete the artifact, I used data from a needs assessment, developed SMART goals, created an implementation timeline, outlined a budget, and designed an evaluation plan to measure teacher growth, student engagement, and schoolwide consistency. This connects to SLO #2 by demonstrating my ability to plan and lead a technology-based change initiative within an educational setting. The proposal reflects my ability to align instructional technology, professional learning, accessibility, and leadership practices to create sustainable improvements that support equity, inquiry, and meaningful student learning.

Description
This artifact was developed as a technology plan for Osborne Middle School, created to address instructional technology needs identified through a school-based needs assessment. I was tasked with proposing a focused one-year implementation plan that strengthens inquiry-based social studies instruction through interactive digital tools, accessibility supports, and sustained professional learning. The document outlines SMART goals, stakeholder responsibilities, budget considerations, internet safety supports, and monitoring strategies to guide effective technology integration.
This artifact directly supports SLO #2: Candidates will apply theories of change to introduce innovations into educational settings. Through this plan, I applied principles of innovation planning and change leadership to propose improvements in how technology is selected, implemented, and evaluated. The plan emphasizes digital equity, differentiated instruction, teacher development, and consistent schoolwide practices. It provides a clear roadmap for using technology more purposefully to support student engagement, inquiry, accessibility, and measurable learning growth.
Reflection
Developing both the technology plan and the grant proposal strengthened my ability to apply change theory in an authentic educational setting. Each artifact required me to examine organizational needs, identify instructional technology gaps, and design realistic solutions that could support meaningful and sustainable improvement. The technology plan allowed me to create a structured roadmap for Osborne Middle School that focused on interactive social studies tools, equitable access, job-embedded professional learning, internet safety, and ongoing evaluation. The grant proposal built on that plan by identifying a funding source and explaining how resources, teacher training, and implementation supports could bring the proposed initiative to life.
These experiences helped me move beyond viewing technology as a collection of tools and instead see it as part of a larger instructional system. I learned the importance of aligning technology decisions with student needs, teacher readiness, stakeholder responsibilities, budget planning, and measurable outcomes. I also gained a stronger understanding of how change must be carefully planned, supported, monitored, and revised over time. Moving forward, I will use these skills to lead technology integration efforts that are purposeful, data-informed, and focused on improving equity, accessibility, teacher development, and student learning outcomes in K–12 and other instructional settings.
