About me
Hello, my name is Kia Jones - a multimedia artist! I have worked in multiple programs such as: Photoshop, Clips Studio Paint, Zbrush, 3ds Max, Maya, Unreal Engine, Unity and Blender. I graduated at Kent State University - Stark Campus with a Bachelors & Associates degree of Science - Engineering Technology, Concentration of Game Design & Animation.
With all of my expertise of 2d and 3d work, I want to create game assets to build environments in games. I am always learning to improve my technical and drawing skills to be more valuable in the field of work by always keeping myself busy with personal projects or studying different art styles.

Digital Art Studies — Multiple projects
January 2022 - PRESENT
Traditional Artist
Painted with acrylic paints on canvas & a pair of shoes for a cosplay! Both for fun, expressing creativity and experimenting. Projects resulted in better painting experience with acrylic paints.
2D Artist
Experimented with studying various different art styles including vector and anime out of curiosity. These projects resulted in learning new techniques to advance my art skills and be more proficient.
3D Artist
Learned how to 3D model in Blender over the course of a month to revisit an old course project. This project resulted in building on top of my knowledge of my 3d skills by learning the software.
Intimidated Lyric Video
Aug 23, 2021 - Feb 25, 2022
2D Artist/ Animator
Communicated and constantly confirmed with the client during all stages of the project, from concepts, rough drafts, progression updates, and to final rendering.
Created multiple mockups with accessible typefaces, one stylized portrait of the client and animating movement of the portrait. The result of this allowed me to build on my experience with 2d animation and my digital art.
Video Editor
Imported & exported multiple animation files & the audio file into Blender to create the lyric video file.
Created captions for the lyrics, with an accessible typeface and synced those lyrics with the audio via scrubbing the audio in the program. Allowing the lyrics to appear on screen at the correct time.
Sent a shortened clip of the video to the client to get a final confirmation, in order to make sure they were still happy with the direction of the product. Once given the green light, I continued to finish the product. Completion of the project resulted in a happy client, and enhancing my video editing skills.
Knight Platformer
April 2021 - May 2021
2D Artist
Created various UI elements for props and enemy types for the game environment to give the game world life. These UI items & enemy types went through the stages of rough sketches, improvement stages, until fully rendered. These actions resulted in sharpening my digital art skills.
Edited tile sets from opengameart.org to fit the environment of the game better, resulting in a cohesive looking environment and game.
Game Designer
Created level stages in Unity, creating a diverse set of environments for the game to live in.
Inputting different properties to make the game function properly, such as player & enemy health and damage. Resulting in a fair game where the player can be damaged, as well as the enemy.
Used and edited assets from opengameart.org, which helped me complete the game within the given time frame. As a result of completing the game, I tested the game repeatedly for bugs and glitches and proceeded to fix those with each build of the game. Ultimately, providing a playable game that can be experienced for others enjoyment.
Music Artist Trading Cards
April 10, 2020 - August 20, 2020
2D Artist
Created digital portraits for all the artists I was going to include on the trading cards. Allowing for the cards to have more personality
Designed rough sketches of trading cards, including typography, different trading card classes and the overall look and mood of the cards.
Studied real world trading cards as references, since this was my first time creating a trading card and I knew very little about them and had to research.
Re-edited some portraits to give the trading cards even more personality to stand out from each other. In hindsight, I had a lot of ideas that unfortunately crowded the cards, but I have since learned from this experience.
3D Artist / Animator
Modeled a 3d card, texturing and UV unwrapping the front and back of the card to give the appearance of a real trading card.
Animated and attached a mesh to the audio files of each band, allowing the visual of the music to be present surrounding the card, since it is a trading card about music
Animated turntable style to provide a 360 view of the completed cards, allowing the viewer to enjoy the snippet of music while viewing the card with the visual effects. As a result, I was still satisfied with what I accomplished but acknowledged my overall oversights and have since learned more about typography, sizing and how to make a happy medium with personal projects in terms of accessibility.
