Section 2. How to Use

Project Requirements:

The game can be optionally played within Unity itself, but does not provide immersive qualities as a headset does.

How to open and play

  1. Open the project [FOUND HERE] in Unity

  2. Go to File -> Build and Run

3. You should now be able to see everything within the VIVE!

  • Note: The files for the project have been set up for Windows x86 architecture. If you are using a Mac or otherwise, you will need to update the Build Settings, which can be found in File -> Build Settings

  • Note: The game can be played directly in Unity by pressing the Play button in the center, but it will not have the immersive qualities of the VIVE. Playing with this will use the WASD keys for movement with QE keys for head turning. The mouse left click will grab the projectile shooter and space will be used to fire it.

  • You should now have the freedom to move around the space as you would in real life. For objectives, please refer to Section 1.

What can i do?

  • The player will be able to navigate through the HTC VIVE similarly to how they walk around any virtual space

  • On the first and last levels, there is text that the player can freely read

  • Touching the walls will collide with the player, forcing the player to reset their position and make a sound

  • The player will be able to grab the projectile shooter that is in front of them on each level. To grab, the controller must be directly touching the projectile shooter.

    • With the projectile shooter in hand, they can shoot a sound wave with the projectile shooter.

    • The player will be able to listen to the sound wave as it travels across the level. The sound wave will become quieter as it moves away and will be heard from the direction it was moving toward. Upon hitting a wall, the ceiling or floor, the sound wave will create an explosion sound which can also be heard from the direction is was from.

    • On the projectile shooter, there is a compass that will allow the player to orient themselves as they travel the space

  • To move to the next level, players will navigate through each level to step on the zone with an emitting sound
