A transformational educator goes above and beyond the classroom curriculum to connect students with opportunities and gateways to success. Access starts with researching and identifying needs for students, but is followed by relentless demand and pursuit of outside opportunities for students. I have researched and implemented several family engagement strategies, place-based learning opportunities in Hawaii, and career exploration activities for my students during the early stage of my teaching career. It is imperative that I continue to connect my students with these resources, places, people, and programs because it creates gateways to success for them. I have encouraged my students to engage with these outside opportunities with open minds because you never know when a new passion will develop.
